Primary job tasks

As an average adjuster you travel the world and investigate the circumstances and costs involved with shipping accidents. You examine ships that have been exposed to fire, collision or other types of incidents. Once the investigation is completed, the costs and damages are distributed among the parties involved. Training to become an average adjuster is restricted to trained solicitors with proper working experience.

Your motivations and qualifications

  • You have a law degree
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Danish citizenship and residence

The programme

Once you have obtained your law degree, you will need at least 3 years experience in a company that works with ship accident reports. The programme is based on self-study and on the job training.

Average adjusters are often self-employed but you can also work for large international insurance companies. There are less than 10 average adjusters in Denmark, so you will become part of an exclusive society.
