You are also in charge of consulting clients on the different fuels and where in the world they are available. You will also be working closely with port agents regarding the supply of fuel for your clients.Â
The programme
To become a bunker trader you will take on a 2-year trainee programme with a bunker trading company.
As a trainee you primarily work in the company where you will be provided with a mentor who will train you in every aspect of the business. As part of your training you will undertake a 5-week schooling programme in Esbjerg. Some companies will also require that you complete the first part of the HD program at Copenhagen Business School.
During your training, there is a good chance to be be posted abroad e.g., in Monaco, Shanghai or Singapore. You receive trainee salary during your training.
Career
As a graduate bunker trader you can work in Denmark but there are also great potential to build an international career.Â
You can continue your studies at CBS’ Master programme in Shipping and Logistics or study to become a shipbroker.
